Is Lottery Available in Singapore?

Any form of gambling is strictly regulated in Singapore, the only exception to this rule is horserace betting and Singapore 4d lottery. For a very long time, the lottery has been very popular in the Lion City and it serves as a way to offset the lack of legal casino games in the country.

Not only one, but three lottery games are available in Singapore. In this article, we will examine each lottery game and how they operate.

4 Digits

The 4 Digits or its shortened name 4D is the most popular lottery game in Singapore with millions of participants every day. The 4D is a fixed-odd game that is operated by Singapore Pools, the only gambling company in the country. This game also has its own versions in Malaysia and Germany.

In order to play 4D, players need to choose four numbers ranging from 0000 to 9999. In each lottery draw, 23 number combinations will be selected across the five prize levels and the highest being the jackpot prize. If the numbers on the ticket matches the winning numbers drawn, that player wins.

The ticket cost in the 4D lottery is $1 and players can purchase them in any Singapore Pools outlet or online at their official website. The 4D results are being held every Saturday, Wednesday, and Sunday at 6:30pm.

TOTO

Toto or stylized as TOTO is a legal lottery game in Singapore and it is the second most popular lottery game in the country. Toto has been around ever since the establishment of Singapore as a sovereign state, making it the first gambling game in the country.

In order to play Toto, players must choose six numbers ranging from 1 to 49. The main prize category is six numbers, however, players also have the option to add an additional number with no particular designation to boost their chances of winning.

Additionally, if three numbers in your ticket matched the three numbers from the winning combination, you will receive a prize as well. The price of a single ticket in Toto is also $1 and the 4d result  is being held twice a week, every Monday and Thursday at 6:30pm.

Toto also has a special lottery draw that is held once a year during the Chinese Lunar celebration. This draw is known as Toto Hong Bao Draw which can allow players to win for up to $16 million.

Big Sweep

Singapore Sweep or most commonly known as Big Sweep is a lottery in Singapore and it is also owned by Singapore Pools. This game was established in 1969 and its purpose is to curb the growing illegal gambling activities prevalent in the country at that time.

In each draw, 19 sets of winning numbers consisting of seven digits were being selected from a pool of numbers from 1 to 49. If your lottery ticket matched the numbers on the winning combination, you can win up to $2.3 million. You can also win prizes from the lower tier categories with the biggest being $1,000.

Due to the complex mechanics of the game, Big Sweep has a lesser number of participants compared to 4D Singapore  and the draws are only being held on the first Wednesday of the month. The cost for a single ticket in Singapore Sweep is $3 and you can only buy tickets at the Singapore Pools outlets or any authorized retailers.

Conclusion

According to the experts, the lotteries in Singapore have the best odds to win among the lotteries in Asia. Singapore not only can provide multiple options to bet on the lottery but also provides lucrative prizes that can be obtained at any level.
